On a more positive note, the setting is beautiful and the service very good.
Only 2 desserts available. Sorbet and what sounded like an attempt to unload a mistake. Cheesecake and "deconstructed" apple pie/tart.
We were there on a Wednesday so no excuse for such poor inventory and limited offerings!
We had our anniversary dinner here about a month ago. The service was exceptional--very attentive. Our reservation was on the early side. We were given special attention and a selection of truffles and fruit for dessert with a card. The food was superb..just the right portion size and interesting combinations.
Average food in a cocktail bar environment. Applebee’s is cheaper for the same quality.
Very disappointed. Beautiful surroundings; however meal was mediocre. Of the four of us, 3 ordered the pork chop; however the waitress later returned to say there was only one available (all 3 pork chop entrees showed up on bill). The second choice of chicken was out, so 2 had to settle for third choices. Amuse bouche was not liked by any of us. Salads were very ordinary. Barley soup of day was overly hot with spice (person who ordered it likes hot food) so was not enjoyed. Entrees were fine, but nothing special.
Champagne by glass was "half" flat which is not acceptable at $22 a glass.
elegant restaurant in keswick hall hotel. makes a wonderful southern breakfast and the meals for special events are good as well. a bit pricey.
Even after correcting the bill for nonexistant pork chops, it was very very high for the meal we had - for comparable quality in Charlottesville area, the check should have been 30% or more less!
Service was slow and disjointed. It took 30 minutes to get a glass of beer, and a glass of wine we ordered never made it to the table. Too bad, it was my 4th time there and probably last. For the average total price of the dinner (60- 70$ per person), the service should be stellar. It wasn't.
